NEW YORK (AP) — Hoda Kotb returned to NBC’s “Today” show Monday after spending several weeks caring for her 3-year-old daughter, Hope.
“My youngest, Hope, was in the ICU for a few days and in the hospital for a little over a week,” Hoda said at the start of the show.
“I’m so thankful he’s home. He returned home,” he added. “I was waiting for that day to come. And we are following him closely. I’m so happy.”
It was not clear why Hope was suffering.

“I am grateful to the doctors at Weill Cornell who were amazing and the nurses. And I’m thankful for my family, and I’m thankful for friends like you who have been there every day. So I want to thank you for that. I love you,” he told co-host Savannah Guthrie.
“I love you too,” Savannah replied.
Kotb’s absence coincided with Guthrie also having to take a break from performing.
Guthrie tested positive for COVID-19 on February 28 and left the anchor desk halfway through that day’s show.
