Stephen Colbert watches an embarrassing Fox News moment for Ron DeSantis

Stephen Colbert noted on Thursday that Fox News is trying to move on from Donald Trump, with Semaphore reporting that the right-wing network even has a “mild ban” on the former president.

“It’s like the Discovery Channel banning sharks!” Colbert said in disbelief.

Fox News has sought to highlight alternatives to Trump, particularly Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is considering challenging the former president for the 2024 GOP nomination.

But things didn’t go as planned when “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade went to a restaurant in DeSantis’ old Florida congressional district to see if he could find supporters.

Most of the people Kilmeade spoke to said they still support Trump. Even a woman wearing a DeSantis T-shirt gave a half-hearted “oo” when asked if she would have chosen DeSantis over Trump.

“His?” Colbert said. “It’s like Mr. Met saying, ‘Go Mets!’ Or the Yankees! I don’t really like baseball.”
