“Today” on Wednesday two familiar faces were missing.
The NBC Morning Show is co-hosted by Hoda Kotb and Savanna Guthrie, were gone, yet fans only knew why Guthrie was missing.
Guthrie tested positive on Tuesday for COVID during the show and left early.
Kotb has not appeared live on the show since Feb. 17, according to People. His Co-stars Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones finally explained to viewers Wednesday why she left.
“We know many of you have wondered how [Kotb’s] Do. We can tell you that Hoda is fine,” Melvin said. “She has a family health issue she’s dealing with, so we’re looking forward to seeing Hoda and Savannah back in the office very, very soon.”
“We love you both,” added Al Roker.
It’s easy to see why viewers were worried about Kotb, considering the “Today” show staff has dealt with quite a few health issues recently.
Guthrie has tested positive for COVID three times in just over a year.
Rockers back to “Today” after a two-month absence due to his own medical emergency. The “Today” weather host was hospitalized in mid-November due to serious problems with blood clots and internal bleeding that caused him to miss his first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in more than 27 years.
Despite Kotb’s absence from the show, she has been very present on social media and recently shared messages of inspiration and encouragement on her Instagram account.
“Choose hope,” one message said Monday. “Sometimes miracles are just good people with good hearts,” he shared Sunday.
