Former President Donald Trump (played by James Austin Johnson) showed no sympathy for the residents of disaster-stricken East Palestine in a candid “Saturday Night Live” sketch based on his recent visit to the community. (You can watch the parody below.)
Johnson’s Trump, who mocked the former president’s water bottle-laden visit last week, fired on all cylinders as he mocked President Joe Biden, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
He also addressed criticism of the Trump administration’s rollback of rail safety rules.
“I’ve done a lot for trains. We made them bigger, faster, less secure, maybe,” Johnson said.
“I’m here to pay my respects because your train blew up and now your birds and fish are all dead, it can’t be that good – wake up in the morning and you don’t hear the beautiful birds chirping and instead you hear the trains exploding and derailing everywhere.”
Next, he sets the stage for a fake press conference with Emily Kohrs (Chloe Fineman), the foreman of the grand jury investigating Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 Georgia presidential election.
“She has a very big secret for such a strange girl,” Johnson said.
“Potentially, I could, I don’t know, eeeeeeeeh,” Fineman said as he made a series of faces, mocking Kohrs’ exaggerated facial expressions during recent press appearances.
