Da Brat and his wife, entrepreneur Jesseca Harris-Dupart, are welcoming a baby boy together.
The rapper announced the news in an interview with People on Tuesday. She told the publication that her pregnancy has been “quite a journey.”
“There are a lot of things I’ve learned about women over 40,” the 48-year-old musician said.
Da Brat said that having a child was not part of his plans before meeting his wife, who is already a mother of three.
“I never thought I would have children,” she said. “I thought it wasn’t in my books. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt that because I’ve never been pregnant before, so it won’t happen to me.”
But she said she “started looking at life so differently” after meeting Harris-Dupart.
The couple’s pregnancy announcement included a stunning photo shoot with People. Da Brat wore a striped suit with an open shirt, overcoat and black hat, while Harris-Dupart wore a shiny black suit.
The couple discussed their journey of expanding their family, which included Harris-Dupart, 41, suffering from serious health complications after an egg retrieval procedure. Da Brat also faced health issues, undergoing surgery to remove fibroids and polyps from her uterus before the embryo transfer.
The rapper, who is now in her second trimester, said she had a miscarriage before her current pregnancy.
“I’ve never been so excited about something that I didn’t know I wanted it,” she told People. “I fell in love with the idea and then everything was taken away from me.”

During an appearance on “Sherri” on Tuesday, Harris-Dupart talked about Da Brat’s motherhood journey, saying that “the main trait of being a rapper is nurturing.”
The couple stars together in the We TV reality show “Brat Loves Judy.” They married in a lavish ceremony in Georgia last year.
On Tuesday, Da Brat shared photos on Instagram of the musician celebrating the news of her pregnancy with Harris-Dupart.
“Blessings throughout 2023,” the post captioned.
