“Back to the Future” is back – or rather, it was, for a brief moment.
Fans were excited to see Lea Thompson, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reunite at the Fan Expo in Portland, Oregon on Saturday. Tom Wilson, who played Biff Tannen in the 1985 film, also joined in on the fun, which Thompson reported online.
“My favorite guy ever,” Thompson told Wilson in one of the videos.
“I love this lady,” Wilson replied. “It’s so nice to see you. It’s so fabulous.”
Thompson then proceeded to ask Wilson if he was a “head,” an insult his character often used in the famous trilogy, only for him to turn around — and playfully smack the actor on the head, asking -me: “Hello, everyone at home. ?”
Thompson played Lorraine Baines McFly in the original film, which saw her son Marty McFly (Fox) travel back in time to the 1950s with friend and mad scientist Doc Brown (Lloyd) only to meet his parents youths and his father’s high school bully.
Wilson, who played the angry Hill Valley High School bully, has since moved on to stand-up comedy. He lovingly kissed Thompson on the forehead after calling her out in the video as the two have remained friends since filming Robert Zemeckis’ iconic trilogy.
“Look who’s there!” Thompson said in a video with Lloyd. “Look what the cat dragged!”
Fox commented on the meeting on his Instagram account and captioned an Instagram story to acknowledge that he loves “these FanExpo events and seeing some of my favorite people like Lea, Tom, Chris and all you #bttf heads. Heavy,” according to KTLA 5.
The former actor, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 and eventually retired, founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in 2000 and has since reportedly raised more than $1 billion to find a remedy.
Fox recently revealed that she kept her diagnosis a secret from all but close friends and family for seven years.
As for Saturday’s celebratory reunion, Lloyd shared a photo of all four actors on his profile and wrote: “Found the flux capacitor. Took us all back to 2023 just in time for @fanexpoportland.”
While some have called for a fourth installment in the franchise, it seems unlikely that Fox will return to acting. And while he recently had an inspired idea for an upcoming reboot, a Broadway adaptation is coming to New York much sooner: it’s coming out on June 30.
