5 Disney Parks Attractions That Turned Into Movies

Discover some Disney parks attractions that were so successful that they won their own movies

When we talk about Disney parks, we are used to talking about attractions that were inspired by some of the studio’s biggest releases, such as Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, inspired by Cars, Na’vi River Journey, from Avatar, or Slinky Dog Dash , based on Toy Story.

However, some attractions became so popular that they ended up following a completely opposite line of what we are used to, and became inspirations for Disney films.

With that in mind, RECREIO has put together an incredible list for you with 5 Disney park attractions that have become movies. Check out!

1. Pirates of the Caribbean

Located at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction originally opened in 1967, years before Captain Jack Sparrow hit theaters. Today, because it has become so popular, it also has versions at Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World, Shanghai Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland.

2. Dinosaur

When it opened in 1998 at Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, the Dinosaur attraction was known as the Countdown to Extinction. The name ended up being changed to what we know today in order to promote the film released in the year 2000.

3. Beary and the Hillbilly Bears

In addition to the challenging roller coasters, Disney parks also have more theatrical attractions, with animatronic dolls to make your experience even more incredible – and Beary and The Redneck Bears is one of the most beloved by the public. Being one of the last ones Walt Disney worked on, the show got its own movie in 2002, starring Haley Joel Osment It is Christopher Walken.

4. Tomorrowland

In the beginning, Tomorrowland in California, had toys involving rocket rides to the Moon and space travel, however, today it houses classics such as Space Mountain and the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, a toy inspired by the space patrolman from Toy Story. The movie “Tomorrowland: A Place Where Nothing Is Impossible”, based on the attraction, premiered in 2015.

5. Haunted Mansion

Disney’s famous Haunted Mansion is now present in parks in California, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong. The first film inspired by the attraction was released in 2003, starring the actor and comedian. Eddie Murphy. Now, a new feature film inspired by the Haunted Mansion has been confirmed, with the participation of Jamis Lee Curtis. So far, the production still does not have a premiere date.
