The watchmaker-jeweler presents a video showing his know-how. Artisans reveal the meticulous stages of creating a charm, the brand’s iconic piece of jewelry.
Thomas Sabo, the eponymous brand, was created in 1984. The designer wanted to develop cheerful and expressive collections. She started with charm jewelry that stacks on bracelets or necklaces. It’s even become a line in its own right with Charm’s Club.
The house has always favored craftsmanship, in its workshops in Germany, where the collections are conceptualized. Production complies with demanding regulations aimed at recycling precious materials, justified supply and respect for workers.
High fire enamel
The German label has released a video that reveals a small part of its know-how, where each piece is handmade. First there is the 3D design of the creative office. Then the first prototypes of the candle are created. After approval, production can begin. The piece comes out raw, it needs to be polished to find the silver color. Then comes the grand feu enamel stage, followed by setting with zircons selected for their qualities. The charm goes through polishing again before being dipped in gold, which gives it its final look. Each season a new collection is available, following the trends and inspiration of Monsieur Sabo.
