Who were Lilo and Nani’s parents?

A theory created by fans may have revealed who the parents of the protagonists of ‘Lilo and Stitch’ were

Released in 2002, “Lilo and Stitch” follows the story of a Hawaiian girl named Lilo, who decides to adopt a dog, but is surprised to discover that that strangely cute little animal was, in fact, a genetically modified alien who was condemned and fled down to earth, making her live several funny adventures and a great friendship.

In the plot, little Lilo lives under the care of Nani, her older sister, since when the two lost their parents in a car accident during one of the biggest storms in Hawaii. But, have you ever wondered who the protagonists’ parents would be?

fan theory

A theory created by a fan and shared on the Reddit platform can answer this question asked by many admirers of the franchise, in addition to also explaining the great connection between the sisters and the social worker Cobra Bubbles.

To begin with, the theory created by the user kapu_koa, and based only on the first film, states that both Lilo and Nani’s parents, when Bubbles, were, in reality, CIA agents (United States civil intelligence agency), in addition to being great friends. After the couple’s death, Cobra would have promised to take care of the girls and, therefore, he would not have taken Lilo to a shelter.

“In the movie, when the Galactic Council comes to get Stitch, the leader mentions that she recognized the social worker Cobra Bubbles. He then tells her that he was with the CIA in Roswell. Now, are we led to believe that a CIA agent who was involved in alien contacts just became a social worker? I don’t think so. Not without good reason”, says the author of the theory.

kapu_koa believes that the “good reason” behind all this would be exactly the relationship that Bubbles had with the couple before the tragic accident and, for this reason, he would not be close to Nani and Lilo to separate them, but to watch over them. them and ensure their safety.

parental inheritance

In addition, the theory also explains some actions taken by Lilo, which ended up causing confusion among many fans, such as her habit of taking pictures of overweight people on the beach.

“I think Lilo’s father may have taken her on a low-risk surveillance mission back on the island, knowing that no one would look twice at a father and daughter taking pictures together, using her as a kind of cover. The target was an overweight person, something Lilo distinctly remembers, and now she takes the same photos as a way to remain close to her late father.”

Another thing explained in the theory is the large collection of bizarre books present in the girl’s room, including titles such as “Maps of Iowa”, “Oyster Farming: Is It For You?”, “Practical Voodoo”, and “Eating Fire for Fun and Profit”. According to the author, the items were from Lilo’s parents, who used them as sources to do research on their secret missions and, after they died, they were all inherited by the youngest of the family.
