“Velma”, a spin-off series from Scooby-Doo that was the talk of its debut last month, is already in development for its second season, according to information revealed by the CEO of WarnerTV, Channing Dungeyas reflected by Omelete.
Despite the revelation, HBO Max and the creators of the production have not yet officially announced the new episodes. With 10 chapters, the first season of “Velma” tells the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the genius girl of the mystery class, and in this version we will discover more about the past of the most beloved detective in cartoons. Check out the teaser below!
It is worth remembering that, despite having the same characters from the children’s classic, the series’ producers have already stated that the work is not intended for children and, for this reason, Scooby is not present.
“We couldn’t find a way to do that [incluir Scooby]. How to do this in a fun and modern way? What made the original series a children’s series was Scooby-Doo. This coincided with Warner telling us that we couldn’t use the dog. So let’s allude to the dogs of the world and leave it at that,” said showrunner Charlie Grandy.
According to the producer and voice actress Mindy Kaling, “It’s a series set in high school, with events and proms, as well as being a murder mystery. Obviously, Daphne and Fred are popular while Velma is an outsider. Seeing them together will be the fun of the series.”
