What are all the Disney princesses?

In all, 12 girls managed to win the title of Disney princesses; find out who they are!

The 19-year-old girl who appeared in the film that bears her name released in 1950 ends up being kept as a slave by her stepmother after losing her father, being forced to perform domestic chores and fulfill the wishes of the woman and her two biological daughters.

Despite the cruel reality, Cinderella never gives up dreaming and with the help of the Fairy Godmother and the small animals she is friends with, she manages to go to the Prince Charming Ball, where she ends up leaving behind the glass slipper that would change her whole life. .


3. Aurora

First appearing in ‘Sleeping Beauty’ (1959), sweet Aurora is the princess who falls victim to a curse cast by the fairy Maleficent. The spell causes the young woman’s 16th birthday to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and soon after, she falls into a deep sleep, where she is only awakened after receiving a kiss from her true love, Prince Phillip.


4. Ariel

The rebellious and dreamy Ariel had her story presented in ‘The Little Mermaid’ (1989). She, who is Disney’s first half-human princess, is a 16-year-old girl who dreamed of leaving her underwater kingdom called Atlantis and living among humans. The desire ends up making her sign an agreement with sea witch Ursula, where she gains legs and can live next to Prince Eric for a while, but ends up losing – almost forever – her voice.

Passionate about books, the intelligent and kind Belle is featured in ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The 1991 film shows the journey of a 17-year-old girl who, after having her father imprisoned by the beast, offers herself as a bargaining chip for man’s freedom.

From then on, Bela shows that it is possible to see far beyond appearances by living in the beast’s cursed palace and falling in love with the prince who had been transformed into the fearsome furry creature.


6. Jasmine

The Sultan’s fearless daughter, Jasmine, appears in ‘Aladdin’ (1992), becoming the studio’s first non-European princess, as well as the studio’s first non-white princess.

In the film, the 16-year-old girl goes against traditions to define her own destiny, in addition to showing that love goes beyond social differences, as she falls in love with Aladdin, the poor boy who finds a magic lamp and has the chance to have his wishes fulfilled by the genie.


7. Pocahontas

Introduced as the only daughter of the chief of the tribe, Pocahontas had her story explored in the film that bears her name released in 1995, where she falls in love with John Smith, one of the English colonists who threaten to take over the place where she lived and, together, manage to put an end to the conflict that surrounded the two peoples over the territory.

The princess is inspired by a real historical figure: ammonutedaughter of the leader of the Powhatan people who accompanied the fight between colonists and Americans and, in 1607, when she was between 10 and 12 years old, saved John Smith to be killed by his father. Outside of the animation, there was no romance between the girl and the man.


8. Fa Mulan

Disguised as a man, Mulan goes to war in her father’s place, who is old and sick, where she will defend China from the fearsome Shan Yu. The character of 16 who appears in ‘Mulan’ (1998) is inspired by a legendary Chinese figure, and the first to become a princess by performing a heroic deed.
