5 fun facts about one of Disney’s most important animations

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is one of the most important films in the history of animation. The production was the first animated feature film in history, and the first to be made entirely in color in the world. In 2008, it was named the greatest American animated film of all time by the American Film Institute.

Premiered on February 4, 1937, the acclaimed animation turns 86 this Saturday. Celebrate such a special date with 5 fun facts about Disney’s first princess movie!

1. Other versions

The story we know today did not come out of the blue. Before her, Disney’s writing team had already written other versions, where the Evil Queen tried to end Snow White using a poisoned comb, Prince Florian was captured by the villain, and with the dwarfs building a bigger bed for the princess to sleep comfortably in your home.


2. The seven dwarfs

In the original tale popularized by the Brothers Grimm, none of the dwarfs had a name. Walt Disney who came up with the idea of ​​names that matched their own personalities. Dunga was even the last to be chosen and spent a lot of time being called just Seventh, as the team couldn’t decide which characteristic to give to the character.


3. Adaptation

At the beginning of the film, we can see that all dwarfs have their names on their own beds. In order to be shown in other countries where the native language is not English, the film had to be adapted in several different versions to get the characters’ names in the correct language of the country.

4. “Disney Madness”

In 1937, many people thought Disney’s project to create an animation over an hour long was crazy – since no one had done anything like it until then. Therefore, the headlines of newspapers at the time contained the phrase “Disney Madness”. 5. Real inspirations

To help inspire the designers and to make them as realistic as possible, walt disney decided to take several wild animals to the studio so that the professionals could observe their movements closely.
