Ten to fifteen cups a week

Doing the math, Lucille Woodward estimates that she drank ten to fifteen glasses of alcohol a week. “It’s hard to understand that there’s a problem,” he told HuffPost. Everyone tells me, “but no, it’s fine, you drink, but not that much.” I don’t get extremely drunk every night, but it’s a significant and risky consumption throughout the week.

In a previous article, Michael Naassila, president of the French Society of Alcoholism, warned against this very normalization of alcohol consumption. According to the Public Health France 2017 barometer, almost one in two French people believe that offering or drinking alcohol is “part of good manners”. It is a false and, first of all, harmful idea, regretted the specialist, who emphasized the urgency of moving away from this ritual and harmful patterns of consumption. “If I had trouble giving up drinking, if I drink alcohol and increase the amounts for intoxication, sedation and/or more socializing, that should alert us and invite us to moderate,” the president concluded. French Society of Alcoholism.

Cope with social pressure

This social pressure, Lucille Woodward trusts in the fear of not overcoming it. “It’s hard to say I don’t want to drink when I come to a party,” she admits to HuffPost. I’m afraid of losing my friends, my beautiful side, the good life, of not being the girl we invite anymore because she knows how to party…

The coach, however, decided to go ahead with his challenge. And the changes in his mood in just two weeks only strengthened his motivation. “My level of patience has increased enormously, especially with my children, and I am more present for myself,” he assures.

In a video posted on his Instagram account on January 13, the former science journalist already spoke about his commitment to his 263,000 subscribers. “I have a problem with alcohol. I drink, I drink a lot,” he admitted.

Lucille Woodward advocates daily the importance of exercise and a balanced, plant-based diet for long life and better health. An exercise routine, a vegetable menu, quitting smoking… the pro says he’s “reached a sort of level of well-being.” The last one, which is giving up alcohol, is one of the hardest for him, but he says: “I’m leaving knowing I can do it.”
