Good at their age. Zabu Breitman, Sara Poniatowski and Pascal Arbilot confide in their relationship with aging

In an interview, Zabu Breitman, Sarah Poniatowski and Pascal Arbilot talk about their memories, achievements and their favorite age.

Zabu Breitman. “I am not nostalgic by nature, but sometimes I miss my childhood…”.

This photo was taken on set La Baule-les-Pins, by Diane Kuris, released in 1990. I was 29 years old, pregnant with my eldest daughter. I remember at that time I was rolling and felt like nothing could happen to me. I also had beautiful hair and great skin. I’m not nostalgic by nature, but sometimes I miss my childhood… I was an only child and I grew up with incredible parents, we laughed a lot and I was very free. At the time, this singularity could make me sad because I belonged to all groups and none at the same time. It’s still the same today, and my audience knows me in many different ways. Artistically, I wouldn’t say that the roles have become more interesting over the years, but I see that we live in a complex society when it comes to creativity – there are many more opportunities, but also many fewer genres. Everything is shortened, we all become a bit the same. It is the task of us artists to always strive to have an opposite point of view.”

Sara Poniatowski. “As I approach fifty, I think I will live the best years of my life.”

“As I approach 50, I expect to live the best years of my life. My three children are grown, I have a boyfriend with whom I have plans, and my business is booming. Today I feel freer, stronger and more confident than I did in my 20s. I am aware of my luck and being in a new dynamic of life, I don’t have the impression of following the same routine for thirty-forty years. The only downside might be taking in my reflection in the mirror… My shrink encourages me to be kinder to myself, but it’s not always easy. Other than this inconvenience, everything is fine. I even think that if I didn’t have to illustrate my words with some kind of witness picture, my ideal age would be ten years from now. My children will all find their way and I may be lucky to have grandchildren. a dream for me, who loves tribes so much.”

“I was 39 years old, I was playing Adulterers, by Woody Allen, at the Theater de l’Atelier in Paris, and my son was 1 year old. I see this time as a golden age because there was great abundance in my life. I felt fulfilled both personally and professionally. Today, I don’t see old age as an enemy and I passed the milestone of fifty smoothly. The years have allowed me to get rid of my past a little and thanks to the work done on me, I have even managed to get rid of my neuroses. My only concern might be my work, because movies and television rarely have beautiful roles for older women… But my great grandmothers lived to be 101 years old. I pretty much picture myself as a funny little moth who keeps playing until the end.
