Sharon Stone: Some big stars are misogynists, but not De Niro or Pisces

Sharon Stone has it for leading actors, mostly men, with a few exceptions.

“I’ve worked with some of the biggest stars in the industry, who will literally talk to me from the front, telling me what they think I should do,” Stone told Variety in an interview published Wednesday.

“They’re so misogynistic — now, that’s not Robert De Niro,” she continued. “It’s not Joe Pesci, it’s not those guys.”

In addition to her “Casino” co-stars, Stone also had fond memories of George C. Scott, saying she had the “great luxury” of co-starring with him in 1999’s “Gloria.”

“She put her hand on my face and said, ‘You’re the best listener I’ve ever worked with, other than my wife,'” he recalled — a gesture so moving it left her in tears.

But Stone’s comments left many wondering what rude partners she might have had in mind. Throughout her career, the Emmy winner has starred alongside several celebrities, including James Woods and Arnold Schwarzenegger, but remained tight-lipped about her latest remarks.

“They just won’t listen to me and they won’t let me influence their performance with my performance,” she told Variety of the unnamed celebrities. “I realize you’re awesome and everyone thinks you’re awesome. But listening, being present for those fractured moments, is truly the human experience.

Stone added that because of these views, she is “not the most popular actress in town”.

This isn’t the first time Stone has lifted the curtain on some of his previous projects.

In a 2021 memoir, she suggested that the “Basic Instinct” production team forced her to go without underwear for the film’s animated interrogation scene under false pretenses. (Director Paul Verhoeven disputed his account.)

She also told Playboy in 1992 that she felt “tension” with her co-star Michael Douglas.

“I never felt comfortable with him, and I don’t think he felt comfortable with me,” Stone said at the time, adding that it may have actually benefited the project. “I really felt like he and I could have a certain weird energy and dynamic together. … I think that kind of angst lends itself to this kind of film.”
