During its independence, Ukraine nominated films for this award more than 10 times, but none of them made it to the list of nominees.

According to the plot, it is a story about a group of social workers of an orphanage near the front line during the war in Eastern Ukraine.

“They come from broken families, experienced various traumas and many difficult memories. They share it in front of the camera, keeping a diary of broken lives that continue, in the worst situations of war, in loneliness , but also about the temporary, short-term. The children’s shelter may seem like a cold and hostile haven, but in fact it is a warm and caring haven. The staff strives to create a magical, safe environment for to children whose fate is in the hands of the court,” the filmmakers said. .

Notably, among the other nominees in this category is a film about Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny called Navalny.

Remember, early Ukrainian film Klondike was not shortlisted for the Oscars.
