The film ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’, which had its release in 2018, was budgeted at US$ 275 million, however, at the box office around the world, the film had a collection of only US$ 392.9 million, making it that the film did not generate franchises.
But the production focused on the pilot of the fastest ship in the galaxy gained prominence over the years, and on the internet, fans of the film production raised the campaign entitled #MakeSolo2Happen, which in translation says “make ‘Solo 2’ happen”.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, as reported by the Cinepop website, Ron Howarddirector of the film, was asked if the film would have a chance of having a continuation through Disney’s streaming platform, Disney +.
In response, Ron said he didn’t know about the situation, but would like to see the characters in the plot gain new adventures. Then, howard said:
I’m not a ‘Solo’ producer. This is a matter that is in their hands. I supported the project because of my long relationship with George [Lucas], kathy [Kennedy] and Larrykasdan. But we never talked about it. One would assume that there are some ‘Solo’ characters that deserve to go further, but I’m not sure what Disney+’s expansion plans are.”
The director continued: “These programs are not only important to everyone who works on them, but they are also a great bet for the company. They make their choices very carefully, and they want to keep growing and evolving. So I know this isn’t really an answer, but there’s a real appetite to understand where ‘Star Wars’ can take audiences, in addition to developing characters and ideas that are already known. But there’s so much potential in ‘Solo’ and whether I’m involved or not, I’d love to see some of those characters again.”
It is worth remembering that the scenario was a little less hopeful for fans of the production a few years ago, since in 2020, the expectation for a possible sequel was even lower. “Well, there’s no sequel planned right now, and it’s amazing to be part of a Star Wars movie that feels like an alternative kind of blockbuster. Which isn’t what you’d expect, but it’s been a strange journey.” howard in an interview with British radio SiriusXM.
