With the feat, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ surpasses the records of ‘Avatar’ and ‘The Mandalorian’
This Thursday, the 19th, the US Visual Effects Union announced the list of nominees for the 21st edition of the VES Awards, where “Avatar: The Path of Water” not only appeared among the nominated films but won a record number of indications, since the film James Cameron compete for the award in 14 different categories.
The record previously belonged to “The Mandalorian”, series of disney+ released in 2019 that was nominated for 13 categories. In addition, the film surpassed the number of nominations of its predecessor, as “Avatar” (2009), was nominated for 11 awards.
The award, which is also known as the Visual Effects Society Award, has been held annually since 2002 to honor the best films, television series and commercials released during the previous year in several categories.
This year’s edition will have its winners announced on February 15th during a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton hotel (where the Golden Globes are also held), in Los Angeles, USA. The full list of nominees can be seen below!
