It was noted that the star is a true friend of Ukraine, supporting our country’s struggle for independence in the war against Russia.

Residents of Ukraine want to name a street in honor of the famous Georgian actor and singer, who always supports our country, Vakhtang Kikabidze. A petition in this regard has already been registered on the Kyiv City Council website.

In particular, in the Pechersky district of the capital, they want to change the name of the street named after the Russian writer Nikolai Leskov.

“Vakhtang Kikabidze is a famous Georgian actor and singer, a true friend of Ukraine, who supports our country’s struggle for freedom in the war against Russia. The actor refused the Russian Order of Friendship because of Russia’s war against Georgia in August 2008. Since then, he has not been in Russia. He has supported Ukraine in its opposition to Russia since 2014. In 2019, he performed in cities in eastern Ukraine (Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Rubizhne) as honoring the 5th anniversary of liberation from Russian militants. Supported Ukraine after the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022,” the petition read.

Recall that Kikabidze died on January 15. He was buried on January 19. The casket is covered with two flags – Georgia and Ukraine.
