In ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, Spider, is the human boy who lives on Pandora
Mixing CGI and live-action is not an easy task! at least that’s what James Cameron makes it clear in an interview given to Vanity Fair last Tuesday, the 17th, where the director revealed that one of the biggest difficulties in the recording of ‘Avatar: O Caminho da Água’ was filming the scenes in which Spider, character from Jack Championappeared.
Cameron described the process as “Terribly difficult”, as the lighting had to be calculated correctly for there to be harmony. In addition, Jack had to act twice, once as a reference for Sigourney Weaver, Britain Dalton and Sam Worthingtonthe interpreters of Kiri, Lo’ak and Jake Sully (respectively) and another to be included in the final version of the feature.
The sequence of recordings took about two years to complete. “He was about 13 at the time. And then later when we shot it he was 15 so he changed a little bit in size and vocal range but we limited him and then we had these capture scenes.” Cameron.
Still, the work seems to have paid off, as the new film in the franchise became the sixth highest-grossing of all time by raising $ 1.9 billion, in addition to enabling the third feature film of Avatar, which should hit theaters in December 2024. Two more sequels are planned for 2026 and 2028.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ follows the familiar new challenges and threats that Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytri (Zoe Saldana) and his family will have to face 13 years after the war against the ‘People of Heaven. Remember the trailer!
