Ireland Baldwin: My pregnancy is difficult and having “idiots” in the family doesn’t help

Ireland Baldwin opens up about her pregnancy struggles.

On Wednesday, the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger shared a lengthy note online about her experience. “Pregnancy is hard,” she wrote on Instagram. “It takes you so long. I wasn’t ready for that.”

She added: “I’m exhausted. I’m not motivated. I feel like life is passing me by.”

In December, People has confirmed that Ireland Baldwin is expecting her first child with the RAC musician, whose real name is André Allen Anjos. The two live together and own a business in Gearhart, Oregon.

In his new note, Baldwin said he “always wanted a child with the right person.”

“I grew up with a very jaded perception of what love really looked like,” she wrote. “I’ve always wanted to have a child of my own with someone who treats us well and loves us unconditionally.”

Throughout her post, Baldwin indicated that she was feeling “lonely.” He praised the RAC and said without it “I would have lost my mind”. But he also expressed a need for more support.

“It’s hard not being really close to family because they either live far away or they’re idiots I want nothing to do with,” Baldwin wrote. “It’s hard to see other people go through this and have their parents close.”

It’s unclear what “idiots” Baldwin was referring to, but he seemed to have a tough home life growing up. His parents separated in 2001, at first a heated four-year custody battle.

The courtroom battle turned particularly ugly in 2007 when the media obtained an angry voicemail Alec Baldwin left for his 11-year-old daughter. In it, Elder Baldwin called the girl “a rude and inconsiderate pig.”

Although Ireland Baldwin later commented that “the only problem with that voicemail was that people thought it was a much bigger deal than it was,” her mother. She said By Net-A-Porter magazine in 2016 that divorce is “hard on a child no matter how you slice it.”

Basinger said that because of her “public and nasty” breakup, she raised her daughter in a “very unconventional” way.

“I just wanted her to be free,” Basinger said at the time. “If he wanted to bring his friends and write on the walls with the pen, fine. I wanted her childhood to be full of love, light and animals.”

And while Baldwin seems to be in a different phase of her life right now, she expressed at the end of her Instagram post that she hopes her pregnancy thoughts will resonate with other moms-to-be.

“It’s still worth it, but it’s nice to admit how difficult and scary it can be,” she wrote. “You are not alone.”
