“The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon weighed in Friday on the scandals surrounding Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), who fabricated several details about his past to win the November midterm elections for Congress — and now is being investigated for this. . his donors and campaign contributions.
Fallon aired footage of a live televised debate Santos had with Democratic rival Robert Zimmerman on CBS New York’s “The Point with Marcia Kramer” in October, when the candidates were asked to name their favorite traditions of family.
Zimmerman was first and talked about his family watching vacation movies in sweats while eating food, including Haagen-Dazs ice cream.
Santos, whose state and local Republicans are now calling for his resignation from Congress, has since given a surprisingly similar response.
“Whenever we can meet … it’s sweatpants, pints of Haagen-Daz everywhere,” he said.
Fallon couldn’t believe it.
“It’s true,” the late-night host said of the video, declaring, “I’ve never seen identity theft happen in real time.”
