Prince Harry opened up about his fractured relationship with Prince William — and who’s to blame for the split — during a candid interview that aired Monday on “Good Morning America.”
Interviewer Michael Strahan asked Harry if he takes any responsibility for the split with his brother. The Duke of Sussex replied: “No doubt, I’m sure of it.”
“But what people don’t know is how much I did to fix this privately,” he continued. “Both my brother and my father.”
In the wide-ranging interview to promote his memoir, Spare, Harry also said that his late mother, Princess Diana, would be “saddened” by the state of the relationship between the siblings today.
“I think it would have crushed him if he got where he did. I think he would be devastated that William, his office, was part of these stories,” Harry said, referring to what he claims are false stories the palace has shared with the British media about him and his wife. Meghan Markle. .
“William and I made a pact, we made a pact, whatever it is, we will never let our offices fight against each other,” Harry said.
“You think I broke that pact?” Strahan asked.
“Yes,” said the royal. “The people he hired broke the deal.”
