Kate Winslet broke Tom Cruise’s record while filming Avatar 2

The previous record was held by Tom Cruise. In an underwater scene in Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation, he held his breath for six minutes.

American actress Kate Winslet breathed for more than seven minutes while filming Avatar: The Way of the Water. This was reported by the CBC.

It was noted that free swimming was a key skill that allowed the celebrity, along with co-stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldanha, to shoot long scenes underwater.

During filming, freediving instructor Chris Denison worked. His colleague Kirk Krak coached the Oscar winner directly.

“Kate Winslet was able to hold her breath underwater for 7 minutes 15 seconds. It’s amazing. It’s what other people fear so much. She overcame her fear. She achieved a victory,” said Chris Denison.

In addition, the instructor emphasized that the fact that brain damage occurs after a six-minute delay is incorrect.

“In all the films I’ve worked on, we teach the actors how to breathe and make them very safe divers. We teach them how to save someone, how to respond in cases of hypoxia. And it’s very inspiring for to artists, because they not only know how to do it, but also know how to do it safely,” he added.

It was previously reported that the sequel to the cult film Avatar, called The Way of Water, rose to the top of the box office a week after the premiere.
