The ports of Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaysk on the Danube River in January-November this year increased the volume of cargo transshipment by 2.9 times compared to the same period in 2021. “During 11 months of this year, the ports of the Danube region (Izmail, Reni, Ust-Dunaysk) handled 14.5 million tons of cargo, showing positive dynamics and an increase in the volume of cargo handling by 2.9 times (+ 294%) compared to the same period in 2021 “, says the message.
Including the cargo turnover of the port of Izmail compared to the same period in 2021 reached 7.7 million tons (+210.6%), Reni 6.1 million tons (+508.3%), Ust-Dunaysk 662 thousand tons (+1314.7%).
It is indicated that in terms of transshipment volumes, the first position in the nomenclature of goods is occupied by food cargo. The export volume of agricultural products (vegetable oil, grain) from the ports of the Danube region reached 6.1 million tons, which is 42 times higher than last year.
According to the head of SE USPA Oleksiy Vostrikov, since the beginning of the year, the export of agricultural products (cereals, vegetable oil) at the Danube ports is about 24% of the total volume of the ports of Ukrainian.
“Despite the fact that today the ports of Izmail, Reni, Ust-Dunaysk have used almost all available capacities for cargo transshipment, there is still potential for further development. In particular: modernization and renewal of port infrastructure, attracting investments for the construction of new terminals and dredging” , – said Vostrikov.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine is launching the Danube grain route. The project provides for the transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products to the Romanian port of Constanta.
