Former CIA Director John Brennan said Russian President Vladimir Putin knew his plan to invade Ukraine had “completely failed” and warned that the Russian leader was threatening the West.
On Wednesday night’s show MSNBC Deadline: White House, Brennan told host Nicole Wallace that Putin was “clearly responding to developments in Ukraine, many of which have been defeated for Russia, “aniya.
Brennan said Putin was “adapting to the Ukrainian military battlefield by consolidating and shifting forces to the east and south” because of the “explosion” of his forces. The Russian leader “also responded to the strength of NATO support, and especially to the continued supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukrainian forces,” he continued.
Brennan thought Putin would put more pressure on other neighboring countries, such as Poland and Bulgaria, where he would cut off natural gas supplies.
“Putin realized that his initial plan in the game had completely failed, so he had to adapt and respond,” said Brennan, who headed the CIA from 2013 to 2017.
“It’s going to be a combination of ferocity and rhetorical prosperity, it’s still trying to threaten the West,” he added. “But to also take these kinds of measures to direct sympathies in Europe and also in the United States, unfortunately, to continue to support Ukraine to redistribute the NATO alliance and weaken the resolve and will of NATO. ” “
