Nespresso turns its capsules into paper

Almost forty years after its creation, the famous Nespresso coffee capsule is about to change its dress. This Monday, the Swiss giant is launching its first aluminum-free capsule in France and its home country. Or rather, packaging made from compressed paper pulp and therefore compostable at home. This is a small revolution for the Swiss group, which has always insisted that only aluminum ensures the freshness and taste of its nectars.

To maintain Nespresso’s reputation, the biopolymer layer will be wrinkled on the paper envelope. “The idea was not to rush to make sure we have packaging that is compostable of course but offers coffee to Nespresso standards.
