The company expects electric vehicles to account for 25-40% of its global sales by then, CEO Akira Marumoto said. The previous forecast assumed that this figure would be around 25% by the end of the current decade.
Mazda also intends to invest in the production of electric vehicle batteries. To do so, it entered into an agreement with battery manufacturer Envision AESC to supply batteries for its Japanese-made electric vehicles.
“We expect high uncertainty in the business environment to continue until 2030, due to the impact of many factors, including regulatory trends in each individual country, as well as the state of energy infrastructure and consumer choice ,” said Mazda.
Recall that in Ukraine the demand for electric vehicles is growing, despite the energy crisis. In October, 1,614 battery-powered vehicles were registered, up 73% from last year.
