According to the investigation, in rare cases, the rear lights can repeatedly break due to a false detection of a malfunction during the unlocking of the car.
American company Tesla, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, is recalling about 321,000 vehicles in the United States due to taillight problems. On Saturday, November 19, Reuters reports.
The Texas-based electric vehicle maker said the recall is for some 2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Tesla will release an over-the-air update to fix the taillight issue and says it has not had reports of any accidents or injuries related to the recall.
It is expected that some of the errors may be resolved after the next over-the-air software update.
The massive campaign follows the recall of nearly 30,000 Model X units due to a possible malfunction in the front passenger airbag. Amid the news, Tesla shares fell nearly 3% to a two-year low.
In the past, Musk has resold part of Tesla shares for a total of nearly $4 billion.
