Inflation has dropped shopping over the Internet, warns a survey conducted by Ipsos.
The report found that 53% of Internet-connected Peruvians said they were buying less than they used to because of price increases over the past six months.
At the same time, 39%, about four out of 10, indicate that they continue to consume the same and only 8% purchase more than before.
But what are the prices of products that are offered electronically?
According to the survey, 74% of consumers believe that prices have increased, 24% believe that they have remained the same, and only 2% believe that they have decreased.
The survey also shows that of the total number of Peruvians connected to the Internet, seven out of ten (74%) have income due to the pandemic and only two (20%) managed to keep them at the same level.
41% of Peruvians analyzed spend less overall, 19% save less, and 26% need to use their savings to support themselves on a daily basis.
When asked about the categories in which they currently invest less, respondents indicate that they have reduced their consumption in clothing and footwear for everyday use (63%), as well as in food and drinks in restaurants (47%).
Other categories in which consumption has fallen due to rising prices are buffet food and drinks (33%), sportswear and footwear, mobile phones (27%) and others.
Despite this, the Ipsos study notes that electronic commerce It continues to grow as around 7.8 million adults in Peru shop online. Previously, this figure reached 7.1 million Peruvians.
