Yuriy Vitrenko expressed hope that his dismissal will speed up the appointment of Naftogaz’s Supervisory Board, which is important for the company and for the country.
Yuriy Vitrenko officially quit his job as head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine. He held this post for a year and a half, according to the company’s website on Thursday, November 3.
Vitrenko said that from the middle of last year until the start of a full-scale war, Naftogaz was able to reverse negative trends and start increasing production in depleted fields. Also in 2021, the company became profitable again, helping to ensure the reliability of gas supplies and social stability in the country.
“We deprived Firtash of the opportunity to earn extra income by reselling the gas that the company produces. Together, we made a significant contribution to stopping Nord Stream 2, even though it has already been completed,” Vitrenko said in his address to Naftogaz employees.
He also added that Naftogaz has a concept for the transformation of the sector, carefully thought out levers of change, and successful pilot projects. So, work is underway to significantly increase production through the use of new technologies.
In addition, a new transit arbitration with Gazprom begins, the arbitration against Russia on assets in Crimea continues, a complaint was filed against Gazprom with the EU antimonopoly body.
“I hope my dismissal will speed up the appointment of the supervisory board. This is important for the company and for the country, because the supervisory board can be a driver of corporate transformation and even the transformation of the entire industry. In addition to the team, the company has a positive reputation among international partners, and it is important now for the victory and restoration of Ukraine,” added Vitrenko.
Recall that on November 1, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Yuriy Vitrenko from Naftogaz. And now the Verkhovna Rada removed Aleksey Chernyshev from the post of Minister for Development of Communities and Territories. It is expected that he can now lead Naftogaz.
