According to him, Energocom bought 5.6 million cubic meters of gas, which was imported through the Budniki delivery point in Slovakia on the border with Ukraine.
“For the first time, the Republic of Moldova imports natural gas through a reverse system, from west to east, thus dispelling the myth that natural gas and electricity can only come from Russian Federation,” said Spinu.
He noted that the purchased gas complements the stocks that Energocom is building to supply Moldova this winter and contributes to the country’s energy independence.
Current natural gas reserves in Moldova amount to 157 million cubic meters.
At the same time, Spinu announced yesterday the purchase of another 15 million cubic meters of gas, but then he did not specify at what price and from whom this resource was purchased.
Earlier this week, it became known that in November Gazprom cut gas supplies to Moldova by 50% – up to 5.7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
