The International Chamber of Commerce believes the regulator should ease price restrictions on electricity to restore the destroyed infrastructure as soon as possible.
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has sent a letter to the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NCREKU) with a request to reduce price caps in the electricity market. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine in connection with the text of the document available to editors.
According to ICC representatives, such an indulgence is necessary to allow developing companies to purchase equipment necessary to eliminate the consequences of Russian terrorist attacks on power plants. The letter is addressed to the head of the National Regulator Konstantin Ushchapovsky, as well as to the Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
“On behalf of all energy professionals working in ICC member companies, we are writing to you to immediately increase the maximum price limits in the electricity markets in order to avoid the complete shutdown of the Ukrainian energy system, ” said the document.
The ICC noted that the current price-cap level does not allow for the purchase of infrastructure repair equipment in sufficient quantities.
“The challenges that have arisen for Ukraine in connection with Russia’s armed aggression are especially tangible and serious for the energy sector, which is always underfunded. And under the current rules of the electricity market, companies of energy will not receive funds to purchase new equipment,” the letter said. .
The International Chamber of Commerce also noted that two weeks ago, NEURC planned to raise the price limits in the electricity market to help energy companies obtain funds for the necessary equipment, but in the unlikely reason, this decision is postponed indefinitely.
Recall that since October 10, Russia has widely attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure facilities, which has led to a lack of capacity in the energy system. Electrical engineers restore electricity around the clock, but the aggressor attacks again and again.
