As part of the initiative, the military’s Steel Front is being provided with ammunition, weapons and other necessities. The company also helps the public.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest group has allocated UAH 2.1 billion to support the army, civilians and its employees, 1.4 billion of it – to support the military as part of the Steel Front military initiative.
Metinvest has become one of the largest suppliers of special steel and protective ammunition in Ukraine. In particular, every tenth body armor in the Ukrainian army was donated by Metinvest – a total of 150,000. Most of the plates for this body armor are made from the company’s special steel in the group’s enterprises.
Metallurgists also built protective structures for the military – mobile shelters. 29 such shelters have been sent to the front. In general, it is planned to build and transfer to the front line 30 such shelters every month.
In addition, Metinvest buys ammunition and equipment for the defenders of Ukraine. In particular, the military recently received 15 difficult satellite artillery systems for aiming fire.
“From the first day of the war, Metinvest has been helping the country to be strong. We are everywhere where support is needed. And together we are bringing Ukraine’s victory closer,” commented Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest.
Metinvest is also implementing a UAH 130 million project to provide medical care in hospitals in several regions.
It is worth noting that the company’s businesses were severely affected by the fighting and were operating at a level of 30-50% of pre-war capacities.
16 Metinvest enterprises filed a case against Russia at the ECHR seeking compensation for damage caused by the invaders. More than 10 Group companies will file similar claims before the end of the year.
