Transport Federation: Ukrenergo tariff increase can be avoided

Ukrenergo, along with tariffs for electricity transmission, plans to raise tariffs for its transmission.

Ukrenergo may abandon plans to increase the electricity transmission tariff from UAH 346 to UAH 398/MWh by recalculating the company’s inflated costs. This was stated in a letter from the Federation of Transport Employers of Ukraine to the head of NEURC Konstantin Ushapolsky.

FRTU assessed possible industry losses from Ukrenergo’s tariff increase.

“The specialists of the enterprises that are part of the FRTU carefully analyzed the situation with the proposed increase in the tariff for electricity transmission and came to the conclusion that in modern realities such an increase is destructive for the industry, because the costs of industry will increase by UAH 700 million a year,” said the statement. letter

The Federation said that in conditions of war and crisis, any increase in Ukrenergo’s tariff will lead to negative consequences, and the demand for electricity will decrease, which will lead to a decrease in the company’s income.

At the same time, the tariff increase can be avoided if Ukrenergo recalculates part of the inflated costs, according to FRTU.

“The main reason for the tariff increase is the expectation of an increase in the cost of electricity as a result of an increase in the marginal price of RTR to UAH 3/6 thousand – from UAH 8.3 to 15.8 billion (+ 89%). Recall that earlier metallurgists were urged not to increase Ukrenergo’s tariffs for electricity transmission by 273%, from 62 to 232 UAH/MWh.
