The highest level of inflation in October was in the Baltic countries – in each of them it was almost 22%.
In October, consumer prices in the euro area increased by 10.7% compared to the same month in 2021. This is a new historical maximum since the introduction of the euro in 1999, the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) reported on Monday, October 31 .
In EU countries, prices for energy resources (41.9%), food products, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages (13.1%) increased significantly last month.
The highest level of inflation in October was in the Baltic countries – in each of them it was almost 22%. Also, prices rose strongly in the Netherlands – almost 17%.
Moderately than other countries, consumer prices rose in Germany (11.6%), France (7.1%) and Spain (7.3%).
Despite record inflation, the eurozone economy grew slightly in the third quarter, with Eurogroup countries’ GDP rising 0.2% from July to September compared with the second quarter.
Recall that inflation in Ukraine approached 25% in annual terms. Consumer price growth has accelerated for three consecutive months.
