Metallurgists urged Ukrenergo not to raise the tariff for electricity transmission, but to reconsider their costs.
Ukrenergo must change the calculations on the increase of tariffs for the transmission of electricity, which is planned to increase immediately by 273% – from 62 to 232.03 UAH / MWh. This was stated in a letter from Ukrmetallurgprom to the head of Ukrenergo Konstantin Kudrytsky, published by RBC-Ukraine on Thursday, October 27.
The letter states that Ukrenergo intends to increase tariffs mainly due to the acquisition of auxiliary services, the cost of which will grow from UAH 16.7 billion in 2022 to UAH 66.3 billion.
“According to the logic, this happened due to the increase in the value of the replacement reserve (gas operation) from UAH 4.6 to 8.6 billion (+ 87%) in December 2022. But such an increase cannot be explained either by the price increase for in gas, or in terms of consumption volume (it fell because of the war),” the metallurgists note.
According to the calculations of Ukrmetallurgprom, the actual costs for the purchase of auxiliary services in 2021 amounted to approximately UAH 5.4 billion, which is 40% lower than the electricity transmission tariff for 2021.
“From this follows savings in the amount of UAH 3.6 billion. These funds can be used to cover all additional needs of operational and technological management. Taking into account the actual volume of consumption of auxiliary services and taking into account -taking into account the balance of funds from previous years, OP Ukrmetallurgprom requests not to increase the tariff for electricity transmission and to keep the tariff at the level of UAH 62.13/MWh,” the letter said.
Metallurgists note that such a sharp increase in Ukrenergo tariffs will cost them more than UAH 1.8 billion, which will lead to a further decrease in production and the risk of losing the strategic industry.
Earlier, the Chamber of Commerce reported that Ukrenergo could refuse to raise tariffs for its services thanks to financial aid from the European Union, which plans to give Ukraine 1 billion euros to restore the energy system.
