Ukrenergo said Ukraine is capable of importing electricity from Europe and requested emergency aid from the EU.
After the cancellation of electricity exports to Europe, Ukrainian traders D.Trading LLC, ERU LLC and state trader ECU began to test the possibilities of importing electricity, starting with Slovakia. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday, October 26, citing the results of the daily auctions of NPC Ukrenergo.
From October 16, these companies have booked various crossing capacities on certain days till October 27 (auctions are held two days before delivery).
D. Trading was booked the most – 50 MW for 4 days on October 16 and 23 and 35 MW for 5 hours of the day on October 26.
ESC – 3 MW at 4.00 and 2 MW at 5.00 on October 24, 1 MW at 5.00 on October 25 and 1 MW each at 13.00 on October 26-27.
ERU – 1 MW at 4.00 on 22 October.
The agency added that at the beginning of October 26, the ENTSO-E website reflected the physical delivery only on October 16, when the 50 MW cross section for four hours was purchased by D. Trading.
The head of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytsky, said on Monday, October 24, that Ukraine has not yet started importing electricity, but there is a technical possibility for it, as well as the possibility to request emergency assistance from EU.
As reported, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Energy, the invaders destroyed up to 40% of the energy infrastructure.
