Due to electricity problems, Ukraine may not have enough accumulated gas reserves, Vitrenko said.

Ukraine stored 14.2 billion cubic meters of gas at the start of the heating season on Thursday, October 20.

“The subways are 100% ready for the heating season. We have accumulated more than 14.2 billion cubic meters of gas there,” said Yury Vitrenko, head of Naftogaz, in a discussion at the Energy Club.

According to him, in a normal situation, the reserves would be sufficient, but due to problems in the electricity industry, additional imports are likely to be needed.

“There are now problems in the electricity industry and we must expect that it will be winter as well, so we understand that additional volumes are needed for electrical engineers, and they probably need to be imported,” explained Vitrenko .

The authorities expect that in the upcoming heating season, gas consumption will decrease by 39.7% (by 7.7 billion cubic meters) compared to last year, at 11.7 billion cubic meters. m.
