Peru received 1.4 million tourists so far this year, said Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Roberto Sanchez.
The Minister noted that while this is an important recovery from the 440,000 international tourists received last year, the pre-pandemic level has not yet been reached.
Sanchez also noted that this year is expected to achieve 900,000 jobs in this sector. sightseeingwhich will also be less than 1.2 million in 2019.
As for other factors in the sector that show recovery, the minister pointed out that restaurant billing is already at pre-pandemic levels.
He also noted that they had already exceeded 1900 tourism resources inventory at the national level, when there were about 500 in December.
“But at the level of cultural manifestations, we are reaching 2360,” he added.
It is worth noting that Mincetur predicts that the target of the tourism sector for this year in terms of contribution to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is to reach 2.5%.
