Russian manufacturers of computers and other electronics are facing a sharp increase in the supply of defective parts from China – after the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, the share of defects has increased from 2% to 40%. On Monday, October 17, Kommersant reports, citing sources in the electronics market.

Experts interviewed by the publication said that due to sanctions and violations of logistics, importers have to create longer supply chains and buy goods not directly from factories, but through unofficial suppliers – from intermediaries and exchanges, so the level of product quality control is falling. They suggest that the problem will lead to increased prices for Russian equipment and stretched production times.

Customers themselves began to buy parts in China and other countries, without the experience and technology to check suppliers and products, said Ivan Pokrovsky, general director of the Center for Modern Electronics.

At the same time, he argued that the problem “affects individual companies, not the entire industry.” The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported that information about the increase in defective deliveries of parts was not received by the department.

The publication recalls that after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the US Treasury began to include Russian manufacturers and electronics developers in sanctions lists, due to which they were cut off from the supply of foreign substance. The structure of Baikal Electronics, MCST, SPC Elvis, Aquarius and the structure of the Yadro Group of Companies fell under the restrictions.

Recall that in May, Japan banned the export of technological equipment to the Russian Federation. The banned list includes 3D printers and quantum computing equipment, including quantum computers.

Taiwan has banned the supply of chips to Russia and Belarus
