A Ukrainian company a month ago announced the initiation of arbitration proceedings against Gazprom due to underpayments for transit.
Russian Gazprom lacks $200 million for gas transit, Naftogaz head Yuriy Vitrenko said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“Approximately $200 million. This is what has not been paid as of September, but this amount is increasing every day,” he said.
Vitrenko recalled that the requirement for underpayment was the first requirement recorded in the arbitration petition. Naftogaz is also working on other requirements.
In addition, Naftogaz may initiate arbitration against Gazprom in the event of a complete stoppage in gas transit.
“We will issue invoices (after the transit stop), and maybe the transit stop will also be one of the topics of consideration of the arbitration – you need to be ready for it,” explained Vitrenko.
Recall that Naftogaz announced the initiation of pre-arbitration proceedings against Gazprom at the end of May. And he announced the start of arbitration proceedings on September 9.
