Media: Russia will allow the manufacture of cars with Euro-0 engines

This is due to the fact that Bosch has stopped supplying engine management systems, which, among other things, regulate power and emissions.

The Russian government will temporarily allow the manufacture of cars of all environmental classes, including the Euro-0. At the same time, according to current technical regulations, cars must comply with Euro-5 and higher, Kommersant reported on Tuesday, April 19.

The regulation on “rules for assessing the compatibility of wheeled vehicles made in a special period” applies only to major domestic automobile concerns employing more than five thousand employees.

It is expected that for passenger vehicles, as well as for light trucks and trucks with gasoline engines, the environmental class could be anything, including Euro-0.

For light commercial vehicles and trucks with diesel engines – above the Euro -1 class (no lower class), in the case of gas -powered engines – Euro -3.

At the same time, the mandate states that the use of catalytic converters that reduce emissions is mandatory if it is provided for car design.

The current technical regulation of the Customs Union provides that all cars made for the market must comply with the Euro-5 class and higher. However, due to the fact that Bosch has stopped supplying engine management systems, which, among other things, regulate power and emissions, this has become a problem.

The source of the publication noted that automakers in the Russian Federation have already assembled nearly 5 thousand cars, which they can not sell due to their incompatibility with regulations.

Europe, USA and Japan canceled the manufacture of Euro-0 cars from 1992, Euro-1 from 1995. Russia introduced the Euro-2 standard in 2002.

“In fact, the proposed measures will return the automobile industry of the Russian Federation to the standards of the 1990s,” the newspaper wrote.

Recall that in early April, Russian AvtoVAZ suspended production. All employees were sent on “corporate leave” until April 24 due to lack of electronic components.
