NAEK Energoatom head Petr Kotin spoke with British Urenco Group leaders about additional supplies of uranium concentrate for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. This was reported by the press service of Energoatom on Monday, April 18.
Indicated that any cooperation with the aggressor country, including the purchase of Russian uranium concentrate, is unacceptable for Ukraine. Therefore, Energoatom is ready to increase purchases from Urenco.
The British Urenco Group is engaged in the enrichment of uranium (according to the technology of gas centrifuges) for its use as fuel in nuclear power plants. The company owns uranium enrichment facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and the US. It provides fuel for nuclear power plants in 15 countries, mainly in Europe and the USA. Its share is approximately 29% of the global market for uranium enrichment services.
Urenco is headquartered in Stoke Poges. A third of the company is owned by the British government, a third by the Netherlands government, and the rest is owned by German energy companies E.ON and RWE in equal shares.
Earlier it was reported that a brigade of Rosatom arrived in Zaporozhye NPP. It was headed by Andrey Gorbunov, Chief Engineer of the Rostov NPP.
