The European Union is providing another 50 million euros of humanitarian funding to support people affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine. This was announced by the press service of the European Commission on Sunday, April 17.
Funding will be directed to “meet the most pressing humanitarian needs” by providing emergency medical services, access to safe drinking water, shelter and protection, financial assistance and support to combat gender-based violence. 45 million euros are provided for humanitarian projects in Ukraine and 5 million euros – in Moldova.
It brings the total amount of EU humanitarian aid in response to the war to 143 million euros.
“With millions of people displaced or trapped in active war zones, Ukraine’s needs are already overwhelming. We must be prepared to further intensify Russia’s relentless attacks on Ukraine, especially on east, ”said Janez, Commissioner for Crisis Management. Lenarchich.
He stressed that the new assistance will help people in hard-to-reach areas without access to health care, water and electricity, as well as those forced to flee, leaving everything behind.
