Gavin Gray will take over as the IMF prepares a new long-term lending program for Ukraine.
Gavin Gray has become the new head of the International Monetary Fund’s mission in Ukraine. Interfax-Ukraine reported this on Thursday, September 15.
“Mr. Gray has significant experience in developing economies,” said Vahram Stepanyan, IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine.
Gavin Gray will replace Ivanna Vladkova Hollar in this position from September 20. At the same time, Hollar has been leading the IMF mission to Ukraine since May 2020.
According to Bloomberg, Gray served as head of the IMF mission in Iraq from 2018 to 2020.
The previous day, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that the IMF planned to develop a new long-term lending program for Ukraine. This will be discussed in the coming weeks. At the same time, the fund will provide Ukraine with an additional $1.4 billion.
Recently, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the IMF shows a “rather passive attitude” in supporting Ukraine.
Earlier, the head of the National Bank, Kirill Shevchenko, said that Ukraine planned to conclude a new agreement with the IMF for $15-20 billion.
