Google launches secret laser communication project

Tightbeam greatly improves satellite connectivity, Wi-Fi on planes and ships, and cellular connectivity everywhere, Aalyria said.

A group of technical specialists from the American corporation Google is developing software for high-speed communication networks that extend from earth to space. This was announced yesterday by CNBC.

Codenamed “Minkowski” by Google, this secret project is said to be released to the public next Monday, September 19th, as a new division called Aalyria.

Aalyria’s website says its mission is to manage “ultra-fast, ultra-secure and highly complex communications networks spanning land, sea, air, near and deep space.”

The company claims to have laser communications technology “exponentially larger and faster than anything that exists today.” The Aalyria software platform has been used in several aerospace networking projects for Google.

Aalyria’s light laser technology, which it calls Tightbeam, keeps data “intact and intact in the environment and weather, and enables communications where there is no supporting infrastructure.”

“Tightbeam greatly improves satellite communications, Wi-Fi on planes and ships, and cellular communications everywhere,” the report said.

Aalyria is led by CEO Chris Taylor, a national security expert who has led other companies that have worked with the government.

Aalyria’s board of directors includes several former Google employees and executives, as well as Vint Cerf, known as one of the fathers of the Internet.

Google will retain a minority stake in Aalyria, but declined to say how much it owns and how much external funding the company has raised. At the same time, intellectual property, patents and tangible assets, including office space, were transferred to Aalyria earlier this year.

It was previously reported that Google has started testing augmented reality glasses with a translator. This gadget will allow you to translate text in real time. The glasses will also have maps for navigation.
