Nearly two million hectares of land have already been sown. Because of the war, this year they plan to sow 20% less.

On April 15, farmers in Ukraine sowed 1.94 million hectares of land, which is 14.4% of the 13.44 million hectares planned for the current season, including 0.87 million hectares sown in a week. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

According to the plan, in 2022, due to the war, the sown area will be reduced by 20.5% – from 16.92 million hectares to 13.44 million hectares.

Last year, winter crops were sown for the 2022 harvest in a total area of 7.7 million hectares, including 6.5 million hectares of winter wheat, 1 million hectares of barley and 0.16 million hectares of rye.

“Agricultural enterprises have completed the first feeding of winter crops with nitrogen mineral fertilizers, the crops are cared for,” the report said.

It should be noted that despite the war, the sowing campaign began in all regions, except the Luhansk region.
