Some travel companies closed, but others were able to reply to the state budget more than in 2021.
Tourism in Ukraine has not only stopped because of the war, but continues to replenish the state budget through taxes. Some companies even transferred more funds than last year. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine on Friday, September 2, with reference to the press service of the State Tourism Development Agency.
Some travel companies closed, but more taxes were received than last year. On average, the tourism industry for the first half of this year was able to pay 25.7% less taxes to the state budget than in the same period in 2021. The number of companies decreased by 24.5%, entrepreneurs – by 13.5%
The state budget as a whole received revenues from the payment of taxes of hotels and sanatoriums – almost UAH 461 million. This is 30% less than last year.
At the same time, boarding houses and hostels, which have become temporary accommodation for those fleeing the war, pay a 39% additional tax.
On the other hand, camp sites, campsites, and children’s camps had a big loss this year. At the same time, travel agencies brought 41% additional funds to the state budget due to early bookings.
Tour operators paid only UAH 83 million in taxes to the state budget, and last year for the same period the amount of revenues reached UAH 106 million.
Most of the taxes from tourism are received in the following regions:

Ivano-Frankivsk – an increase of 63%;

Lvovskaya – an increase of 51%;

Kyiv region – an increase of 16%.
In geographical regions closer to the front lines or often under shell, tourism decreased:

Odessa region – a decline of 82.3%.

Kyiv – decrease of 34%;
