Patria AMVXP armored personnel carriers will be the basis for a new heavy mechanized brigade to be formed in Slovakia in accordance with NATO requirements.
Slovak authorities have signed an intergovernmental agreement with Finland on the acquisition of 76 Patria AMVXP armored personnel carriers for 447 million euros. This was announced on the eve of Slovakia’s Defense Minister Yaroslav Nagy, TASR reports.

“We have fulfilled all the requirements to conclude a transparent and very beneficial contract for Slovakia, which will give the Slovak armed forces a very important means, which they still do not have,” Nagy said in a briefing following the a meeting with his Finnish counterpart Antti Kaikkonen.
The minister noted that the contract was concluded between the state company KonstruktaDefence and the Finnish manufacturer Patria, and a separate agreement was signed between Patria and the defense department.
More than 40% of defense companies in Slovakia are involved in the implementation of the order, and this is more than 40 enterprises. Deliveries will begin in September 2023.
The Patria AMVXP is an 8×8 armored personnel carrier equipped with a 30mm cannon and a Turra-30 weapon station. This equipment will be the basis for a new heavy mechanized brigade, which should be developed in Slovakia in accordance with NATO requirements.
On the eve it was reported that the last flight of the MiG-29 fighter took place in Slovakia. They can be transferred to Ukraine.
